THE BACKGROUND HISTORY

It all commenced in 1993 when Carlos Trías Vejarano left a lawyers office in Marbella where he had been working since 1984 to establish his own independent practise together with Andrew James Haynes, an English lawyer with whom he was already in partnership with a practise in Gibraltar, specializing in offshore companies. They established a practise in Marbella under the name of Haynes & Trías, the same name as they used in Gibraltar, to provide more general legal advice to clients of both, and another in Barcelona to specialize in offshore matters. The choice of Barcelona was taken as Carlos Trías Vejarano, for family reasons, had considered splitting up his time between Barcelona, his city of origin, and Marbella, his place of work.

As time passed by, the Barcelona office moved away from its specialist area and started dealing with all types of legal matters, offering support to the Marbella office with difficult matters. Eventually, the partners came to the conclusion that it would be better for both of them and the clients that Andrew Haynes would deal exclusively with the Gibraltar office and Carlos Trías Vejarano with those in Marbella and Barcelona although conserving the same name for all three, Haynes & Trías, collaborating cordially with their common clients.

Due to the development the Costa del Sol has experienced in the past few years, Carlos Trías Vejarano decided to concentrate his efforts here in an attempt to establish a practise on the Costa del Sol, which would offer a quality of service comparable to that offered in lawyer offices in cities such as Madrid or Barcelona. Gradually the office was completed with young professionals whose knowledge and criteria made this quality of service a reality. For that reason this office was created under the name of COSTA DEL SOL ABOGADOS.

In order to understand the Costa del Sol, it is essential to realize that nowadays it is made up of Spanish and foreigners alike - who are not considered as such here - therefore the company incorporates to the name of Trías, two of his direct ancestors, one of Scottish and the other of Belgium descent, who were both pioneers in establishing on the Costa del Sol, celebrating their marriage in Málaga in 1.791. Therefore our company, whose society was constituted on the 1st of July, 2.001 and commenced operating on the 1st of January, 2.002 is named TRIAS, KIRKPATRICK & DE GREVIGNÈE and adds on Málaga 1.791.

Although our firm operates under the banner of LAWYERS, our ECONOMIC, FISCAL & ACCOUNTING services have the same importance for us as we have offered them to our valued clients from the beginning.
